Have any of you had this scenario? You're just minding your own business, and then quite suddenly, you get this unidentifiable ringing in your ears? It's quite annoying. I was wondering if anyone who has this problem, or had it in the past, spoke to their doctor about it and found some sort of medication that helped ... not put a stop to it entirely, but made it so ringing wouldn't happen quite as often. any responses would be greatly appreciated. thank you for reading.
I get something like that when it's quiet Joanne. The thing I do isn't medication, but a bit of a workaround. Just put something on, very quietly, so that there isn't complete silence. Can be a radio, CD, TV, whatever. Just some sound, so that there's at least some sound there. Not sure if it'll work for you, but it may be worth a try.

Joanne, I've been plagued with this most of my life. It isn't just ringing. Sometimes I hear crickets or the roar of the ocean. It gets so bad sometimes that I can't travel safely. I've know of a couple things you can do. Try B complex with C vitamins, and I suggest you go to a healthfood store for these, as the natrual varieties seem to work better than the synthetic ones. There's another product I use called Ringstop. Last time I priced them, Amazon.com had a pretty good price. None of these remedies worked perfectly, but they make things tollerable. I've given up sleeping some nights it gets so lound and disturbing.
Good luck.
Lou
thank you, I'll look in to these suggestions. keep them coming.
Nymphadora feck that's brutal tinitus could drive a saint to drink.
Look for counselling and treatment. It's not curable, but the counsellors give you help on living with it.
Good luck so
Stevie
My ears ring once in a great while. After a few minutes, the ringing goes away. I do like simon said and listen to something.
I know this is a UK site but go to www.rnid.org.uk. They have a section on this. I get it too sometimes. There are a lot of products etc that help too.
Hope you sort it. Its definitely worth going to your doctor about if it's driving you spazzy. I usually drown it out with headphones. put nothing on them but connect them up, then turn them up full so there is a hiss. Give yourself a minute and bingo!
